Buy in Bulk. When you shop at bulk food stores such as Costco and Sam’s club you can really save on certain items. The trick is to find which items are actually cheaper. Remember your list of regular prices and compare with the bulk item in cost per ounce or cost per can, etc. Do not assume that because it is at one of these bulk food stores that the price will be cheaper. It totally depends on the Chill pill item and the location of the store.
At the regular grocery store there is often food sold in bulk. Such as flour, noodles, seasonings, and candy. I have more than once picked an item off the shelf and brought it over to the bulk food aisle to find it half off or more than half off the item’s price. I, of course, then buy it in bulk and put the item back. So you say you like the container? Well, down many bulk food aisles you can find shaker bottles and other such containers for little cost.
Ever noticed how the name brand food items, Cambells, Chef Boyardee, Cheerios are at eye level? Almost guaranteed there will be a generic brand or cheaper brand on the bottom or very top row. Out of sight out of mind. If you bend a little to get the cheaper brand you can save some serious money, oh and get a work out in at the same time!
Cereal is a huge expense. Once again I will repeat buy in Bulk. Often times the bulk generic cereals are hugely cheaper and tastes exactly the same. If your kids are little and grow up on it they will not know any different. For the stubborn kids, save the name brand box and refill it.
Finding the right store can also make a big difference. In my area there is a store called Winco that for the everyday prices has the best deals on food. However, if I am shopping ad’s/with coupons, Fred Meyer beats even Winco’s prices. If you can plan ahead and use your coupons shop where the sales are if not find the store in your area that has good everyday prices. Just remember when shopping sales buy only the sale/couponed items or you will quickly spend over your budget because many of the other food items are priced high.
Oh and Walmart is not one of them for food. They have a few decent priced food items but the majority is a lot more. Walmart is good for many non-food items but that is for another page.
